Electoral College

The Electoral College is made up of 538 electors who cast votes that decide the Vice-President and the President of the United States. The candidate who receives a majority of electoral votes, which is 270, wins the Presidency. 538 is the sum of the nation's 435 Representatives, 100 Senators, and 3 electors given to the District. The Electoral College was created because the Founding Fathers, did not want the ignorant masses determining the fate of the country they worked so hard to create. So, they created a "college" of well-educated people to pick the president. Although this system is flawed, I think that the Electoral College system is fair. It ensures that the small states are ensured that they will have an actual say in the process.

Obama seeks $6.2B

On November 4, Obama had met with Congress to ask for $6.2 billion to go to emergency funds to help stop Ebola at it's source and stop the possible spread of it in the United States. The plan goes like this, $2 billion would be selected for the United States Agency for International Development, $2.4 billion would go to the Department of Health & Human Services and more than $1.5 billion would go to a contingency fund. $4.64 billion would be going into immediate spending to build up the public health in the United States. fight against the disease in West Africa, and quicken the development and testing of cures and other remedies. This money would also aid defenseless foreign countries respond to Ebola. The issue at hand is that Obama wants to stop the potential spread of Ebola into the United States.
I feel like this could be a very successful plan, but at the same time it's not. Obama's going to face challenges with reassuring the public that although Ebola is a difficult disease to contract inside the United States, stopping the disease at the primary source is top priority.

The 13th Amendment

The 13th Amendment was greater by Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States. There were many difficulties that were involved with the proposal and the ratification of the 13th Amendment. Lincoln had issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which declared that all people held as slaves, shall be free. It only applied to states designated as being in rebellion. It did not apply to slave-holding border states. Lincoln had enlisted a group to promise jobs to the lame duck politicians if they voted for the amendment. Lincoln was not ethical because he bought votes and lied about peace talks. Lincoln believed the amendment was so important because he believed that by abolishing slavery, it would in a way create peace because Confederacy would have nothing to fight for.

Bill of Rights Memes

This meme I created refers to the Eighth Amendment. This amendment states that there shall be no cruel and unusual punishment. It also states that there is no unreasonable bail.

The Sixth Amendment has many rights included in it, my meme is implying the right to jury by peers. The other rights that are included are the right to, speedy trial, face accusers, and to hire a lawyer.

Petoria

In the episode Petoria of Family Guy, Peter forms his own government. Petoria is an Oligarchy, which is defined as a small group of people having control of a country, organization, or institution. Since Peter had formed his own government, he was not forced to follow any of the laws the people of the U.S had to follow, which led to his family having more freedom. Another benefit that Peter enjoys as his own nations was that he could commit and get away with any crime that he wanted. One consequence the Griffins suffered by not having a Federal Government was that they had no electricity. Lois ended up having to home school her children because they weren't allowed to attend public schools. The Griffins couldn't even leave their house because the American Government surrounded their home with weapons.

Articles of Confederation Failure

The Articles of Confederation were the written documents that established the actions of the government of the United States after they had declared independence from Great Britain. There were many reasons as to why the Articles of Confederation failed. These articles had given immoderate powers to the State Governments, which lead to an imbalance of power throughout the country. Also, the states had all rights to pass or enact their own laws and rules. The United States was unable to pay it's debts because congress could not tax the people and depend on money from the states. One last reason the Articles of Confederation was a failure, was that the states had a surplus of power while the national government was weak.

Ratification of the Constitution

It was extremely difficult to ratify the Constitution because of various reasons. The concerns of those that opposed the new form of government effected it. Also, those concerns were dealt with in a way, that it eventually got accepted.

In paragraph 2, it states that articulate men used newspapers, pamphlets, and public meetings to debate the ratification of the Constitution. With them spreading their viewpoint, it made others aware of their feelings towards it. These people, known as Antifederalists, opposed the Constitution for many different reasons. In paragraph 3, the article says that some of them argued that the delegates in the Philadelphia had exceeded their congressional authority by replacing the Articles of Confederation with an illegal new document. Another common opposition was that the Constitution gave too much power to the central government at the expense of the states and that a representative government could not manage a republic this large.
Then those concerns were dealt with in a way that it was eventually accepted. Booyah. Most criticism was successfully countered. In article 5, it says that federalists argued that a catalogued list might be incomplete and that the national government was so constrained by the Constitution that it posed no threat to the rights of citizens. One other major way the concerns were dealt with was with the Bill of Rights. During the ratification debate in Virginia, James Madison said that the Bill of Rights was needed, and all the federalists stated to the public that the first step of the new government would be to adopt the Bill of Rights.

No Government??

A government is defined as a system of polity in a state that forms fundamental rules/principles that a nation/state is governed. It sets policies through laws, customs and institutions.
The government can be classified into a few different types. Democracy, monarchy, dictatorship, republic, and aristocracy are a few examples. A democracy is a system of a government by the whole population or all the eligible members of the state. Monarchy is a form of government with a monarch at the head. A dictatorship is a country governed by a dictator. Republic is a state in while supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives. The last one is an aristocracy, which is a form of government in which power is held by the nobility.
A life without a government would be chaotic. Laws and authorities would not be found. Crime would increase drastically because there would be no police and no armies. No police means no jail, and no jail means criminals would go unpunished. Without government people would not be able to receive a proper education. Without an education, people would not be able to survive or get a decent job.
I think humans organized governing bodies because if they didn't, there would be no foundation for living. We wouldn't have schools to get a proper education, health care, insurance, and security to keep the people safe.
